Another strange headline
Texas black woman scheduled to die. I don't really have anything to say about this, except that she should not be executed by the government; I just wanted to get the article and its strange headline out for discussion.
Cut back to Shamrock: "Tito Ortiz is going to find out who Ken Shamrock is, was, and is now." The "is now" in that sentence wasn't really a redundancy. Shamrock was employing a new tense—the ultimate tense—to describe how he was about to be bringing it, how it was about to have been brung.

1.) Why shouldn't she be executed? Because you're against the death penalty period (not saying you are), or because of her specific circumstances? I don't see anything in her crime to merit a lesser sentence than others given the death penalty myself. If anyone gets it, I don't see why she shouldn't.
2.) I think the headline is bad, but not too bad. Her being black is significant since she's the first -- I just think it's sort of irresponsible to bring ethnicity into headlines because in our current day and age it implies racism. If it had said "First Black Woman..." it might have been a little bit better. Instead, it appears to me that they're intentionally making the headline misleading in hopes that more people will read a story if they think it has something to do with important and divisive issues.

1) Your argument seems valid. I'm conflicted about the death penalty--I think I may support for violent or irrepressible criminals but not for people such as Ms. Texas Black.
2) Yeah, it's funny.
spilner, you're not a serial killer, are you?
C'mon, it's Texas- they'd rather kill you than look at you.
Nah man, two years in long park, I'll die before I go back. I had a 3/4" torque wrench in my hand, and, I started hitting him. By the time I was done I couldn't lift my hands. They came into my house, ate a tune sandwich out of my fridge, and you know what, it was you!
It's been five whole days since this post. It's getting a little stale and a little smelly. Don't you think it's time for something fresh?
